Church History
"The Remembrance of the Righteous is a Blessing"
Proverbs 10:7
Some of the charter members were the Bynum, Davis and Green Families beginning with Reverend Ananias Buck and Reverend Bazemore. Rev. Buck held the flock together with the help of Rev. Bazemore.
In 1873, these charted members were loyal and eager to venture out. Under Reverend Buck's leadership, the first frame building was constructed. The Church began to grow in membership and success marked their pathway.
As we reflect upon the past generation of leaders and saints, we mindful of the great sacrifices that were made in order that we might enjoy the benefits of their labor.
Without question, God has blessed Our Church tremendously and we believe He will continue to do so in many wonderful and marvelous ways. The mercy of God has been shed upon the saints of Roanoke Chapel and the Holy Spirit has empowered us to do great wonders. The Church has various functions and continues to be a source of Strength in Our Community. To that end, we must endure hardness as "good soldiers" of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Psalm 90:1-2 reads "Lord, thou hast been our dwelling plain all generations. Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting thou art God." Therefore we are to hold on to the confession of our hope without unwavering, for He who promised is faithful." Hebrews 10:23.
WE are many members but ONE Body in Christ Jesus, Our Lord. To God Be The Glory!
